New Car pt. 2

This is what Rich's new car looks like!

New Car

We are now the proud owner of a brand new car! We have managed as long as we could with only one car but our schedules no longer work with each other. Now this was anything but an easy, quick, painless experience. About 2 weeks ago, we had finally settled on a 2006 VW Jetta after countless nights of research, test drives, and phone calls to my dad. Rich went through all the paper work, got the car, showed off to our friends. Then, just 12 hours after buying the car, every warning light possible went off inside the car. Needless say, we had to go through the process of returning the car. WHAT A PAIN! We are slightly soured on used cars and Carmax. We finally settled on buying a dark silver 2008 Honda fit. COOL CAR! Rich is like a race car driver, and did I mention he fits in it very comfortably?! Always a plus! I will get a picture up ASAP.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was a whirlwind! Our friends and family thought Enid, OK was that amazing that they decided to stay in town/travel to our house for Thanksgiving. The holiday was quiet and uneventful.

First, my mother-in-law, Deb, and her boyfriend, Paul, kicked off the holiday by getting stuck with weather delays and thus getting in town a day late. Then, my parents, Mike and Diana, were supposed to leave at o'dark hundred Wednesday morning. But their heater decided to break. They drove like the wind blew to get into town around Midnight. Lastly, (these are just arrivals mind you) we arranged to have a friend's car available for my sister-in-law, Pat, to drive from the airport in OKC to Enid (a trip that normally takes 1 hr and 15 min.). She made it 3/4 the way until she got pulled over going around 106 mi/hr. (one thing you don't do in OK is speed through small towns...we also found out the hard way). From there she somehow managed to finish the drive by turning around and driving back into OKC. Around 2:30 am, she arrived and all was well.

Thanksgiving day, everybody was happy, but definitely a little tired. (Mind you Rich and I had completely moved two days prior). Everybody brought their assigned dishes, Rich made a wonderful Turkey and I made baked yams but somehow managed to turn off the over mid-bake. So the meal took a little longer, so i forgot the cranberry sauce on the counter, the food and company was great!

We concluded the holiday with a round of Cranium as well and a special group post-turkey exercise activity a.k.a. catch Vance (our 1 yr. old lab) as he ran around base like an idiot or maybe he ran around base while he made idots out of us.........

Nothing concludes a holiday though without somebody attempting to ride the scooters (in this case it was my mother-in-law, Deb) and ending in a trip the E.R.

Nothing like the holidays with the Harrs.......

Finally Settled

The past two weeks have been very busy for Rich and myself. Needless to say, we now live in base! Let me start from the beginning.

Monday Nov. 5th we came home to find that our youngest puppy, Bella, had been shot 6 times, twice in the face. (Don't worry, she is still alive!) We have a weirdo for a neighbor so after calling the police, we assumed it was him. Every little detail points to him. Anyway, by Friday I had to call the police again because my friends and I caught him watching me in my house while I was alone! (Rich was on his cross country). Needless to say, we moved out immediately!

We now live on base and to tell you the truth, I like the house a lot! No, we don't have a yard for the kiddos, but overall it is much nicer! Tiled floors, huge kitchen, brick, 2 sec. from work, groceries, gym, etc.

We are all doing great now that the dust has settled. Bella is physically healing well, though she is having night terrors now, and has terrible separation anxiety from Vance, Rich and me. She refuses to sleep anywhere but in bed snuggled up with us. (Not going to lie, I don't mind at all!!)
